What each bank asks you to prepare
Get your documents ready for your target bank before you apply. Items still tagged “To verify” are compiled from public sources and not yet confirmed line by line.
Mercury
One of the most non-US-friendly: EIN + passport, no SSN required.
Based on our hands-on concierge experience. The face-KYC is done live by the owner — you don't hand the passport to anyone.
Slash
US entities use Business Banking; foreign companies with no US entity can use the Global USD Account (passport only, no EIN/SSN).
Copied from Slash's official help center.
Source ↗Relay
Accepts US-registered, non-US-owned businesses; non-residents open with a passport — no SSN or ITIN required.
Non-residents can open with just a passport — no ITIN. (ITIN is a tax-filing number, unrelated to opening an account.) Official wording: SSN or passport number.
Source ↗Brex
To verifyAccepts international founders but requires a US entity + operations; historically favors funded/scaled companies.
⚠️ To verify: Brex was acquired by Capital One in April 2026 and requirements may change; it has historically favored funded/scaled companies.
Source ↗Lili
Non-US-friendly: foreign passport + EIN, no SSN; open only to citizens of 14 supported countries (China included).
Officially verified (2026-06): only citizens of the 14 supported countries may apply, China included; owners of 25%+ must also be citizens of a supported country. Operating address may be overseas, but the physical card ships to US addresses only.
Source ↗Rho
Incorporated businesses only (LLC/Corp); requires an onboarding call.
Officially confirmed (support reply, 2026-06): must be US-incorporated with a real US operating address, OR a US-based owner with an SSN; Regus-style virtual addresses are not accepted. Pure non-residents with neither cannot open.
Source ↗Wise Business
Fully online verification; most info is collected at sign-up. US-registered businesses may face extra requirements.
No mandatory setup fee for US-registered businesses — a single transfer activates the account (or pay to unlock all features). Verification usually takes up to 10 business days. Don't upload documents unless Wise's team emails you to.
Bluevine
Foreign owners open with just a passport (no SSN or ITIN); but only for 22 whitelisted countries — mainland China is not on the list.
Officially verified (2026-06): international applicants open with a passport and the US address may be virtual; 22 whitelisted countries only, mainland China excluded. The line of credit typically still needs an SSN + US credit history.
Airwallex
Accepts China / Hong Kong / US (and other) companies — use your existing entity, registration place doesn't matter; business license or formation docs + ID, and on approval a DBS multi-currency account is created. Built for B2B export collections.
Official flow verified (2026-06, via account manager): China / Hong Kong / US companies use the same flow; company / partnership / sole proprietor all eligible (no bearer-share entities); B2B picks 'B2B export collection' + wholesale industry; review 1-3 business days + face-ID (director / beneficial owner) + email confirmation, after which a DBS multi-currency account is auto-created. Airwallex is an EMI (not a bank) — no direct FDIC protection.
Source ↗Aspire
Singapore-based EMI: US companies open with an activated EIN + ID, and controllers without an SSN use a passport / driver's license; only companies incorporated in 16 countries qualify (China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and the US included).
Copied from Aspire's official help center (2026-07). IDs must be JPG / PNG images; formation docs, financial statements and the LOA may be PDFs. Note: only companies incorporated in 16 countries / regions qualify (AU, PH, CN, SG, HK, KR, IN, LK, ID, TW, MY, TH, MV, US, MN, VN); extra questions or documents may follow depending on your business type and place of incorporation. US Nexus (official FAQ, 2026-03): only ONE of the four connection types is required, and recent, active documents review fastest; US-registered companies without one yet can open via the pre-US Nexus flow — a cumulative $25,000 outgoing cap (total, not monthly), proof due within 60 days, and closure on day 90 if it isn't approved.
Source ↗Flex
Accepts international owners and has onboarded Chinese citizens; passport + a personal address, remote / no US office is fine. Industry is case-by-case and the partner bank makes the final call.
Support-confirmed (2026-06): international owners welcome, with precedent for Chinese citizens; remote / no US office is OK. Flex is a fintech — the partner bank processes and decides the application and may request more documents; no published prohibited-industry / country list, industry is discussed case-by-case.
Found
US residents with an SSN only — non-residents and ITIN / passport holders cannot open.
⚠️ US-resident-with-SSN only; non-US founders can't open this — listed here only so you can rule it out.
Ramp
Accepts foreign owners but requires roughly $25,000 in US bank balance + mostly-US operations; like Brex, geared to companies with scale.
Heavy requirements: roughly $25,000 in US bank balance + mostly-US operations; early-stage / bootstrapped non-US founders usually won't qualify.
Revolut
Multi-currency + prepaid corporate cards (issued by Lead Bank), but applicants must reside in a whitelisted country — mainland China / HK / Taiwan aren't on it, so most readers here can't open one.
The residence whitelist excludes mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan — residents there generally can't apply. Handling client funds through the account is also strictly prohibited.
